About the event

Afro-Cuban Workshop with Yusniel & Yamilka

This workshop will introduce the origins of Palo in the Afro-Cuban culture.

You will learn the fundamental body movement, basic steps, and musicality to execute this powerful and magical dance.

Afro-Cuban dances are key to the development of the dancer, developing a technical improvement aimed at highlighting the quality of the dancer's movements. If you want to get the most out of salsa and all Latin rhythms, work on your body expression, you should start with its origins, from the roots, its foundations, both musical and dance.

These dances help salsa students and teachers with movements that enrich and nourish their dance. Body independence is worked a lot, execution, coordination, body expression and rhythm is the key to the step.

El Palo is a Cuban dance from the Congo, one of the first dances of African origin and one of the most popular manifestations of the Afro-Cuban culture. Characterized by sudden, big, high-energy movements, where shoulder and torso movements are very important.  Is known for its ritual and warrior like characteristics.
